BPL Round 16 Review

After 16 Rounds of Barclays Premier League clashes, the highly anticipated top of the table Manchester Derby, Manchester United have put a bit of day light between them and their 'Noisy Neighbours' & city rivals, Manchester City. The Derby game was a thriller finishing 3-2 in favour of United. A brace by Rooney & the winner from Van Persie were good enough to send United now 6 points clear at the top of the table. Zabaleta & Toure scoring for City, This was City's first defeat in this campaign.

Elsewhere it seems that if any manger can get the best out of Fernando Torres, it has to be Rafa Benitez. The Spanish striker has scored 4 in the last 2 games for Chelsea, Including a brace against Sunderland when the Blues(Chelsea) beat Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of Light. Arsenal are also back to winning ways after a controversial penalty decisions, which by no means looked like a penalty instead looked like terrible diving, The Gunners beat West Brom 2-0, both penalties, both scored by Mikel Arteta. An incredible late comeback saw Everton beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Goodison Park. Another great comeback was Liverpool beating West Ham, with no natural strikers available for the game as Suarez was suspended, they beat West Ham 3-2.

The Premier League seems to be shaping pretty well with the gap between 3rd & 12th spot being just 7 points. However QPR & Reading almost seem marked for relegation.

BPL Round 16 Preview

After 15 rounds of Barclays Premier League games, the Manchester clubs seem to have separated from the pack. With the Manchester derby this weekend & a place at the top of table at stake, the match up this weekend will definitely be a cracking encounter. Manchester City boasting the best defense in the league & Manchester United with the best attack in the league, with all key strikers (Robin Van Persie & Wayne Rooney) in top form. The United defense at the moment seems to be very frail, with Nemanja Vidic out due to injury & a lack of a proper leader marshaling the defense, one of the reasons why United has conceded as many goals as they have, which is why they have to comeback from behind as frequently as they have this season.
Chelsea which seemed like they were going to be serious contenders for the title have suddenly lost their initial spark. Last seasons Champions League winners after investing in players like Eden Hazard & Oscar, who at the start of the season were giving the Manchester Clubs a real run for their money have lost their initial spark with the dismissal of Roberto Di Mateo & the hiring of new interim manager Rafa Benitez, much to the dismay of many of the Stamford Bridge faithful. Win-less in the last 3 matches under Benitez, the pressure is all on the Spanish manager to produce results or he may be the next manager to face the axe.
Arsenal also is another club from the original "Big 4" of english football who have had problems this season, with the loss of Robin Van Persie to Manchester United, the newly acquired strikers have not seemed to have found their place just yet at the Emirates stadium. Also with Theo Walcott's contract not yet sorted out, he may be yet another player to leave the North London club for greener pastures, cementing Arsenals place as a "Selling Club".
As usual anything & everything can happen in Barclays Premier League. Enjoy this week's action, which includes the Manchester Derby - Manchester City Vs Manchester United live this weekend on Sunday along with the other exciting matches.
